Instagram is an ever changing platform where it seems every week there is some new feature being added. Keeping an eye out for those features that actually make your life easier is key. Here are five features on Instagram that actually help.

  1. Add mentions to stories

Forgetting to tag someone in your story is a pain. You usually would have to delete the whole story and start again or just leave it with the knowledge that they would not be able to reshare. Super annoying. However, now instagram has made a feature which means you can now edit your stories after they’ve been posted. SImply head to your story, click the three dots and select ‘Add Mention.’ So simple but so helpful for us forgetful people.

  1. Template on reels

The rise of Reels has been daunting for many businesses as Instagram prioritises the short form video over any other type of post. To help us out Instagram has added the Use Template button to reels so you now can input your media to certain timings and sounds. It makes you look like a video genius and means your product is a part of a trending template and sound. Save it for later by simply saving the reel and it will be ready for you when you have the time. Instagram is also working on creating a way to browse all reel templates soon so keep an eye out for that.

  1. Remixing Old Instagram Photos

Have you uploaded a photo of a product or service and want to talk about it further or wish you had talked about it in a reel. You can now remix photos and add yourself talking next to it. It will appear as a reel and is really handy to start conversations, add information and sell your product/business.

  1. Pinning Posts and Comments

An important feature Instagram has added in the past year is the ability to pin comments and posts to the top of profiles. This is so handy when you have useful and timely information that you don’t want to get buried in your profile or comment section. Simply press the three dots and pin the post. These are handy for event information, giveaway posts, customer notices or anything you would like your audience to see straight away.

  1. Automatic Replies

If you have a business that gets a lot of messages, having an automatic reply is very handy. A recent study showed that 90% of customers think an immediate response is very important when they have a customer service question. This message can give you some breathing time and also allow you to construct better messages back. Your automatic message should include acknowledgement of the message, a time frame from when they hear from you and could even be an answer to their questions especially if it is something recurring like opening times on when new stock is available.
